Motability

As a Motability Accredited Centre we are able to provide cars through Motability.

	What is Motability?

Motability is a national charity, set up by the government in 1977, to assist disabled people with their mobility needs. The concept of the initiative was to get disabled people into normal everyday production cars, modified to suit if required. 1977 provided disabled people with the opportunity to afford a good quality car, from any participating manufacturer, fully insured, serviced and includes breakdown cover.

Motability, as a registered charity, controls policy, planning and development of the Scheme, and also raise and manage the charitable funds and grants that assist people in achieving the type of car and any adaptations that they need.

	Eligibility

The Scheme is available to anyone who receives one of the following benefits, and has at least 12 months′ award length remaining when making and application:

• Higher Rate Mobility Component of Disability Living Allowance
• War Pensioners′ Mobility Supplement

You should expect the order and processing of your car to take up to 8 weeks if you are a new Mobility Customer. Please contact Motability Customer Services on 0845 456 4566 (Opening hours: 8.30am till 5.30pm Monday to Friday) if you are unsure whether you are eligible to apply.

	Schemes

There are three schemes available to Motability customers:

• Contract Hire Scheme to lease a new car
• Hire Purchase Scheme to buy a new car
• Hire Purchase Scheme to buy a used car.

Contract Hire - The three year 45,000 mile Contract Hire scheme is proving to be the most cost effective method for people to obtain a Motability car. By far the most popular option and chosen by over 90% of Motability customers, customers can enjoy affordable, convenient, trouble free motoring; choosing a brand new car every three years with insurance, servicing, tyres and breakdown cover all included.

Hire Purchase Scheme to buy a new car - The Hire Purchase New Scheme is over a four or five year period with the customer retaining ownership of the car at the end of the Agreement. The main advantage is for high mileage users of for cars that require heavy adaptations.

Hire Purchase Scheme to buy a used car - The Hire Purchase Used Scheme is over a two, three, four or five year period with the customer retaining ownership at the end of the Agreement. Eligible used cars must be under five years old and have less than 60,000 miles on the odometer.
